Residents have the opportunities to present their research at the local, state, and nationally level with full support of the program. Additionally, we have a resident only research competition every spring for residents to showcase their work: the Sheldon L. Brenner Resident Research Award.

At Children’s Hospital of Michigan there are many opportunities for research including QI, bench, translational, and clinical research! Our residents have the opportunity to work with attending faculty and fellows to develop their own projects or join an exisiting one. Additionally, we have the support of in-house statisticians and experts in the IRB process to help guide residents through the process.

Residents have ample opportunity to present their research at the local, state, and national level. We’ve had many residents who have presented multiple projects at the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference annually. Additionally, residents have opportunities to apply for research grants through CHM and can participate in the annual research competition: Sheldon L. Brenner Resident Research Award.

Sheldon L. Brenner Resident Research Award

The Research Committee of Children’s Hospital of Michigan initiated the Sheldon L. Brenner Resident Research Award in 1993 to foster the research activities of CHM house staff and to recognize their research achievements.  This award is given annually to the resident who is judged to have carried out the most meritorious research project during the academic year.

CHM Residents who have conducted research project(s) during the year are eligible to submit an abstract.  Selected faculty will review all abstracts submitted and choose those for presentation.  One presentation per resident will be allowed.
